Abstract
In the last 20 years, studies related to the accreditation of universities and business schools have been scarce. On the other hand, the investigations carried out have been led by countries such as: United States, Canada, India and the United Kingdom. Thus, in Latin American countries there is no emphasis on the impact that the accreditation of universities and business schools has on society; despite the fact that several of these countries have accredited higher education institutions. Given this, the objective of this study is to argue about the importance of the accreditation of business schools, considering the dimensions it addresses and its implication in innovation, in addition to describing which are its key success factors, its main impact on business educational quality and associated costs. It is concluded that, in fact, one of the contributions of accreditation in business education is to provide highly qualified professionals who promote the use of business opportunities in different local and international markets.
