SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN ECUADOR'S CREDIT UNIONS

Abstract
Financial institutions energize the economy of a country; in this context, savings and credit cooperatives play a fundamental role in seeking the common welfare of their members and society in general. The objective of this research is to determine the level of social responsibility of an Ecuadorian Savings and Credit Cooperative that provides its services in the province of Azuay through the analysis of the information contained in the reports of the social balance sheets of the periods 2016-2021. The methodology used was descriptive with a qualitative approach supported by the deductive method and the technique applied was content analysis. Within the results it was verified that the economic dimension is the main strength within the analyzed dimensions, on the contrary, the environmental dimension requires greater disclosure in the social balance sheets, regarding the corporate and social governance dimension they maintain a projection with a tendency to growth. With these data, it is concluded that the Savings and Loan Cooperative under study demonstrates the commitment to disclose information to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner through participatory actions.
