Perception and knowledge of ionizing radiation in patients seen in the imaging area of the theodorous Maldonado Hospital

Abstract

This work is about the knowledge and the level of patient´s perception who attend Imaging area at Hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo, related to ionizing radiations. 98 surveys were done to patient who underwent any type of imaging examination. As a result, it was seen that there is a low knowledge about ionizing radiations with an average of 3,59 over 13 points (SD 0,833). The questions were about the types of radiation and its possible effects over the organism. While using non-parametric statistical significance analysis, it was found the association between the level of knowledge and the origin, as well as with the level of education.
