The fractals and their applications. Documentary review

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to carry out a documentary review on fractals and their applications in the areas of medicine, chemistry, geology, computing, study of new mathematical theories, as well as programs used in the graphing of fractals, the content of which will serve as a guide, for future studies. For the documentary search, a meticulous study of articles in magazines of great impact worldwide was carried out that show the origins and advances of the applications of fractals in different scientific areas. Among the most important results was found in medicine, the diagnosis of cancer and heart problems; in geology, the study of the seismicity of territorial faults such as the San Andrés fault and the Lorca-Alhama fault found in Murcia; in chemistry, the study of elements such as zinc and porosity; in computing, image compression; as well as the application of programs such as XaoS, Fractint and Python in the generation of fractal images. Concluding that fractal theory, studies nature in a recurrent way based on mathematical theory and the use of computational algorithms applied in various areas of science and engineering.
